Ohaneze condoles with Uzor Kalu over his wife’s death.

NaijaNews reports that the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has condoled with Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu over the death of his wife, Dr. Ifeoma Uzor Kalu.

Her death was made known in a statement personally signed by the former Abia State governor, in which he announced that his wife died in the United States of America.

Kalu wrote, “With a heavy heart and pain, we announce the passing on to the eternal glory of Mrs. Ifeoma Ada Kalu, aged 61.”

Mourning her, Ohaneze, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, in Enugu on Monday, said they received the news of her death with a rude shock.

Ogbonnia said the former First Lady of Abia State had been described variously as a kind-hearted, disciplined, diligent, brilliant, wholesome, and virtuous woman of substance; a physician whose skill and expertise found full expression in the United States of America.

“It is, therefore, painful that death will strike at the age she should enjoy the rewards of her services to mankind.”

“Although death is an inevitable reality for all mortals, it is the recollections that we shall forever miss her beauty, charm, warmth, care, passion, and the invaluable services she rendered to humanity while alive that throw us into deep mourning,” Ogbonnia said.

He added that the Chairman, Council of Elders, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, and indeed all the organs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo share “this moment of grief with our brother and son, Orji Uzor.”

“While we send our condolences to the distinguished senator, the children, and the extended family, we also pray to the Almighty to grant the soul of Mrs. Ifeoma Orji Uzor Kalu an eternal rest in his bosom,” he prayed. (NAN)

Wike vs Fubara: You are disrespecting Tinubu—APC Chairman blasts Rivers governor

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused Governor Sim Fubara of disrespecting President Bola Tinubu amid his rift with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.

The APC Caretaker Committee Chairman in the state, Tony Okocha, said Fubara has not fulfilled all the proclamations made by Tinubu at the peace deal with Wike.

He spoke at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt while addressing defectors joining the party.

Okocha said: “It will amount to barefaced disobedience for Gov. Siminalayi not to follow all eight indices in the proclamation made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in response to the Rivers State political crisis.

“His continued refusal to present the Rivers State 2024 budget to a properly constituted Rivers State House of Assembly under Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule (Speaker), as captured in index 6.

“The flagrant cold feet in the conduct of local government elections (see index 8) are signs of disrespect for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The APC Rivers (which is Mr. President‘s Party) stoutly condemns this act of disobedience perpetrated by Gov. Fubara and warns against the likely concomitant fallouts.”
