NaijaNews reports that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the top candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket, met with the party’s governors Wednesday to solicit their support.
After concluding his talks with a meeting with certain governors on Sunday night, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also declared his candidacy for the ticket via social media yesterday.
At a thanksgiving gathering in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi put his hat in the ring.
It was learnt that APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu has consulted with President Muhammadu Buhari on the guidelines for the party’s primaries expected to be held next month, it was learnt.
At the meeting, Tinubu, the national leader of the APC, met with the governors at the Kebbi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
At yesterday’s parley, governors included Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq (Kwara), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe) and Gboyega Oyetola (Osun).
Others are Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa).
Senators Kasim Imam of Borno State, Magnus Abe of Rivers State, and Ondo State’s Chief Pius Akinyelure, a member of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited Board, were also present.
