Naijanewsngr reports that President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has announced publicly for the first time in recent years that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will lead the country during his two-week medical vacation.
On Sunday, March 6, 2022, President Buhari handed over to Vice President Osinbajo just before leaving Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, for London, United Kingdom.
Though it was unclear whether President Buhari had written the National Assembly to formally transfer power to Osinbajo, it was reported that he stated that the “Vice-President is in control.”
Before departing for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, the President assured State House correspondents that there would be no vacuum created by his departure, stating that the government would be administered by experienced hands.
“While I’m away, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will be in charge.” I can’t say that I’m doing everything by myself. The government is depicted in its entirety.
