In Lagos, 482 Impounded Okadas were Crushed.

NaijaNews reports that the Lagos State Police Command crushed 482 motorcycles, popularly known as Okadas, that had been impounded at various locations across the state.

On Saturday, the okadas were crushed at the Alausa Secretariat in Ikeja.

The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, revealed at the site where 482 impounded motorcycles were crushed, that the crushing exercise had been ongoing since the enforcement began.

He said the exercise was carried out publicly to convince members of the public, especially the doubting Thomas that the impounded motorcycles were actually being crushed contrary to insinuations by mischief makers that the motorbikes were being sold and recycled.

Odumosu, therefore, warned erring motorcycle operators plying restricted areas and those violating other traffic laws or using motorcycles for criminal activities in the state to have a change of mind or face the legal consequences.

The police boss assured that the crushing exercise would be a continuous one to discourage people from trampling upon the law, and reiterated the determination of the Police Command to enforce the law.
